Lincoln County Court Calendars Explained
Lincoln County does not publish its court calendar as one tidy county list. Circuit Court settings show up elsewhere. They appear inside the case-detail view on Wisconsin Circuit Court Access, usually called WCCA. A notice or order filed in the court record may state the next date too. The Clerk of Circuit Court and the assigned branch hold the live scheduling docket. If these sources disagree, call before you drive.
WCCA itself is free and part of Wisconsin's court automation program. It lists scheduled activity for public Circuit Court cases. The court offers no separate Lincoln County daily-calendar page. A case lookup is the dependable route. Municipal ordinance dates for Merrill and Tomahawk sit on the joint municipal court's published schedule, not the Circuit Court docket.
Lincoln County WCCA Court Settings
Start in the settings block of a WCCA case detail page. Enter the exact case number if you have it. Choose Lincoln as the county and open the matching case. One setting can list the county, date, time, location, and activity. It may also show the case number, caption, court official, attorneys, prosecutor, and officer. Fields vary by case.
The official Lincoln County Circuit Court profile names the local court behind those settings. It also lays out the branch structure.

That local court profile is not a daily calendar. For the actual court date, use WCCA, the case notice, or a call to court staff.
Finding Your Lincoln County Court Date
When the date truly matters, use every channel. The online docket is fast, while the clerk and the assigned branch catch late changes. Ask your attorney too, if you have one. Day-of postings and the courtroom docket call help, but they are weak substitutes for confirming ahead of time.
- Read the notice or citation and identify Circuit Court, the joint municipal court, or another court.
- For a Circuit Court case, search WCCA by exact case number. A name search should be narrowed to Lincoln County and the right case type.
- Open the case detail and copy the newest activity label, date, time, location, branch, judge, and case number.
- Call the correct office if the date is new, unclear, duplicated, or different from a mailed notice. Branch 1 is (715) 536-0343, Branch 2 is (715) 536-0416, and Family Court is (715) 536-0326.
- For in-person help, use the public terminal or Clerk of Courts counter in Suite 205 at 1110 E. Main St., Merrill. The general clerk phone tree is (715) 536-0319.
- Check current counsel, a filed order, and any courtroom posting before the appearance. The jury message line, (715) 536-0337, is for jury status rather than an individual case setting.
No internet? Call the clerk, stop at the counter during county business hours, or mail a request with your case number. The Lincoln County case lookup explains how to narrow WCCA results further.
Lincoln County Date Confirmation Lines
The phone you need depends on the docket. Lincoln County Circuit Court runs two judge-led branches plus a Family Court Commissioner. A branch number on the WCCA record is the best routing clue. Branch 1 lists Judge Galen Bayne-Allison. Branch 2 lists Judge Jessica Fehrenbach. Family matters may point to the commissioner instead of either trial judge.

That branch contact works for settings assigned there. It is not a name-search portal or the municipal clerk's line.
How to Read a Lincoln County Setting
Read a setting as a bundle of fields, not just a date. The right day with the wrong location sends you to the wrong courtroom. Keep the exact wording, because labels like initial appearance, pretrial, status, arraignment, return, and trial each mark a different step in the case.
| Date | The scheduled day; compare it with later entries for a reset or cancellation. |
|---|---|
| Time | The listed start time, which may differ from another docket call that day. |
| Location | The courthouse, city hall, courtroom, or hearing place shown for the event. |
| Judge or official | The branch judge, commissioner, or municipal official tied to the setting. |
| Activity | The event type, such as initial appearance, status, pretrial, arraignment, or trial. |
| Case and parties | The number and public caption used to verify that the setting belongs to the intended case. |
The attorney, prosecutor, and officer fields add context. They do not change a party's duty to follow the operative notice.
Lincoln County Municipal Court Dates
Merrill and Tomahawk share one municipal court. They do not share one venue or one set of dates. The joint Merrill and Tomahawk Municipal Court hears city ordinance and municipal traffic matters. Its phone is (715) 539-3714. These cases sit apart from Lincoln County Circuit Court dockets unless a municipal decision gets appealed.
Merrill holds initial appearances on Mondays. Juvenile matters start at 10:00 a.m., with adult matters at 10:30 a.m. Pretrial or status matters follow at 10:45 a.m. Merrill good-cause and indigency matters are set Thursdays at 9:00 a.m. Tomahawk police citations are heard on the third Monday of each month. Tomahawk good-cause and indigency matters follow those initial appearances.
The official municipal procedure page lays out the local hearing sequence and appearance rules.

Treat the recurring pattern as a planning aid only. Holidays, illness, and case-specific orders can shift it, so the citation and the clerk's confirmation still control.
Lincoln County Continuances and Cancellations
A continuance, reset, or adjournment only moves an event. It never dismisses the Lincoln County case itself. Check the newest docket entry and line up its activity, date, time, and place against the older setting. When both entries stay visible, court staff can tell you which one governs. WCCA can shift after a filing, a court action, or a data update. A printed notice may be stale by the time you read it.
A missing setting does not mean nothing is due. Some Lincoln County matters are restricted, newly entered, or handled outside the Circuit Court system. Keep the notice and note the time of any phone confirmation. If you have a lawyer, call right away. Counsel may hold an order from Wisconsin Circuit Court eFiling that the public WCCA index never displays as a document.
Note: A docket label reading continued or reset changes the setting only. The legal status of the case stays the same.
Lincoln County Small Claims Dates
Lincoln County small claims has a local date distinction. It can spare you a wasted drive. Under local Rule 2, the clerk sets the initial return date. Parties usually do not need to show up that day. It is not a hearing. A defendant who wants to fight the claim must file a written answer. Once an answer lands, the clerk schedules a trial.
- Return date
- The initial small claims response date set by the clerk, generally not an in-person hearing.
- Trial date
- The later hearing date set after a written answer contests the claim.
- Default judgment
- A judgment that may be entered after a required response or appearance is missed, subject to the governing procedure.
Evictions jump the line. Under the same local rule they get the first available trial date. Rely on the summons and the latest clerk notice instead of treating every printed date as the trial.
Lincoln County Court Location Check
The court name counts as much as the street address. Lincoln County Circuit Court sits at 1110 E. Main St. in Merrill. Merrill municipal sessions meet at Merrill City Hall, 1004 E. 1st St. Tomahawk sessions are held at Tomahawk City Hall, 23 N. 2nd St. A city citation can send you to a different building than a state circuit matter would.
| Paperwork clue | Calendar source | Confirmation route |
|---|---|---|
| Wisconsin circuit code such as CF, TR, CV, or SC | WCCA case settings | Lincoln County Clerk or assigned branch |
| Merrill or Tomahawk ordinance citation | Joint municipal schedule and citation | Municipal clerk at (715) 539-3714 |
| Jury notice | Notice and jury status | Jury message line at (715) 536-0337 |
Route by the issuing court and case code, not by a party's home address.
If You Miss a Lincoln County Setting
Act fast. Pull the exact case number and the latest setting. Then reach the assigned clerk, branch, municipal clerk, or your attorney. Ask whether an order, default, warrant, new date, or other docket event was entered. Never pick your own courtroom day, and never assume online payment fixes a missed appearance.
Missed a setting? A missed date can lead to a default judgment, warrant, bond issue, or another court order, depending on the case.
Call the office shown on the notice or newest docket entry at once and ask what the record now requires.
A licensed Wisconsin attorney can advise on legal consequences; clerk staff can explain scheduling and record procedure but cannot give legal advice.
Miss a county traffic citation date and the stakes climb. A missed printed date can bring default judgment. The official instructions warn it may also mean a guilty or no-contest outcome when appearance or response was required. Municipal consequences vary with the judgment and the court. Check the full Lincoln County traffic ticket record before assuming one rule covers both systems.
