Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the purposes for which it is used, and the limited circumstances in which it may reach another service. By continuing to use Lincoln County Court Docket, you accept these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or case number entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. Lincoln County Court Docket does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email or contact message may be kept long enough to answer and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, the server can receive basic technical and usage details:

  • The IP address assigned to your device
  • Which browser you are using and its version
  • Your device type and operating system
  • The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
  • The site that sent you here, if any
  • Timestamps for each page view

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small device files that support traffic measurement, including which pages draw visits and where sessions end. Analytics providers help combine that usage information. A browser can reject cookies, although some functions may then work differently.

What We Do With This Data

  • Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
  • Sending your search requests to the right partner service
  • Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
  • Tracking down and fixing technical issues
  • Showing ads that may line up with your interests

No Court-Record Data on File

Lincoln County Court Docket does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case information. It publishes general directions to WCCA, the Lincoln County Clerk of Circuit Court, and other official custodians. Wisconsin electronic filing is governed by Wis. Stat. §801.18, while §801.19 protects specified identifying information in court filings. Public WCCA access does not make the underlying eFiled documents part of this website. Visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party profiles, and this resource is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies power the search boxes. Their own privacy terms, rather than this policy, govern information entered there. Each partner controls its retention and disclosure practices, so review those terms before submitting a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to court, clerk, WCCA, legal-aid, or outside search websites. Once a visitor follows one, the destination's privacy policy controls. Review it before providing personal information.

Advertising providers may use activity across websites to select ads. That processing occurs through their systems.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal data. Some information may end up with:

  • Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
  • Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
  • Ad networks that place ads on our pages
  • Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable security practices are used for collected data. No internet service can guarantee complete protection, however, and a breach-free system cannot be promised.

Users Under 18

This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A report that a minor submitted data will be reviewed so that the information can be deleted.

Your Data Rights

Rights can vary with the law where a visitor lives. Wisconsin's public-records provisions, including Wis. Stat. §19.31 and §19.35, govern access to government records, not private visitor analytics. Subject to applicable privacy law, you may:

  • Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
  • Have us fix information that is wrong
  • Request that we erase your data
  • Opt out of certain kinds of data processing

Updates to This Policy
